Chrome 68 say your "Not Secure"

Google is getting serious about  making the internet more secure and with the release of Chrome 68 in July 2018 it will label sites with no SSL certificates as "Not Secure".

In Feb 2018 I published the article "3 Reasons to convert sites to https" in which I list "Search results, Trust, Affordability" as theww reasons to convert to https.  Of which the fact that Google gives preference to https websites in search results as the most important factor.

Now Google has taken the first active step to force website owners to go the https route.  With the next version of Google Chrome (Chrome 68) Google have decided to change the address bar so that sites that are not https, will display a warning that the site is "Not Secure".

As Google puts it:  "Chrome’s new interface will help users understand that all HTTP sites are not secure, and continue to move the web towards a secure HTTPS web by default. HTTPS is easier and cheaper than ever before, and it unlocks both performance improvements and powerful new features that are too sensitive for HTTP. Developers, check out our set-up guides to get started."  , (8th Feb 2018 - Google)
